This book has great examples of all the exercises. In the back of the book are all the different workouts. I choose the Become a Spartan one and found that it is a great grouping of workouts. Enjoy

I ordered this book in anticipation of ending my personal trainer sessions and going to the gym on my own. I liked this book because of the pictures and details on proper form and step by step instructions on how to perform the exercises.

Now that I’ve received the book, I’ve found it’s exactly what I expected. Not only are there something like 600 exercises, they have organized the exercises into workout programs that you can follow based on your goals. I think there are around 15 workouts. I’m a week into my first program and things are going well. The program is well-structured and had good balance between the three days of the workout.

I highly recommend the book. I even bought the women’s book for my wife.

This book is a GREAT value compared to a personal trainer. It has numerous variations of the same moves with increasing difficulty to keep your exercises new and challenging. It has several workouts outlined to get you where you want to be. The nutrition info is far from what I’ve heard for years: ranging from full fat cheese to red meat. The book does a great job explaining the theory and real world data to support their food selections. THE KEY to this book is to get started and leave all your excuses for not wanting to work out at the door. You can buy the book, but if you let kids/wife/work/ etc. stop you — your six pack will never be seen again! There are several workouts that are EXCELLENT for a crowded gym, short on time, or don’t have any weights available. Good luck and enjoy. — cheers, Deuce.

I recently bought a pair of adjustable dumbbells and a weight bench. I also bought a few other equipment like pull up bar, swiss ball and wanted to know where and how to get started. This book exactly meets my requirements. It clearly lays out all the different exercises for various muscles, gives the latest information from research, shows all the exercises and their variations ( some times more than 8-10) with very clear and very high quality photographs.

It also groups all these exercises into various workouts designed by expert professionals to address specific goals like fat loss, muscle building, sports/athlete training, etc.

It also speaks about the latest in cardio workouts like HIIT, finishing of strength workouts with brief but killer cardio workouts. This books though does not assume you have access to a gym or machines. Most of the exercises shown are designed to be used with free weights ( dumbbells, barbells ). some of the variations ask for bosu ball, cable row etc but are completely optional.

Latest information regarding nutrition too is mentioned. A couple of workouts I have seen so far are also accompanied with a nutrition plan.

All in all, an EXCELLENT book for anyone working out at home or even with a gym membership. I am sure even people working out for a long time can pick a lot of good advice from this book.

I have read a number of fitness books over the years including quite a few from Men’s Health. This one is hands down the best, in fact I’m even considering purging the rest of my collection. It goes through basic exercises like most fitness books, but unlike a lot of books it gives probably over a dozen different workouts, all crafted for different needs, which is perfect for a guy like me that is constantly looking to change it up. It is a book that I plan on utilizing and refering to for a long time.
